Our take
The AOC E1659FWU is a very inexpensive portable monitor, but its limitations are apparent. The 1366x768 resolution is dated and makes text and images look soft. The 200 cd/m² brightness is barely adequate for indoor use, and the 500:1 contrast ratio leads to grayish blacks. The 8ms response time is fine for static tasks but not for gaming or video. The USB 3.0 connection is handy, but it requires a USB 3.0 port and no cable is included. The included case is a nice bonus for travel. For basic document editing or as a secondary display, it gets the job done at an ultra-low price.
